Sugar apple or Sharifa is the fruit of taxonomically known tree Annona squamosa. It is native to tropical climate in the Americas and West Indies.
The flesh of the fruit is fragrant. It is sweet and creamy. The fruit is an excellent source of vitamin c and manganese. It is a good source of thymine and vitamin B6. It also provides Iron, phosphorus and Potassium. The fruit contains hard, shiny seeds. These are 20 to 40 per fruit.
